einige der graphiken hingen lange bei mir im flur. ja, er ist einer der ganz, GANZ großen...und einer der wenigen künstler, on dem ich mir eine bibliophile ausgabe geleistet habe für meine bibliothek. ich hatte damals eine ausstellung in london besucht, und da stand wirklich bevor man reinging: achtung: es wird davor gewarnt, daß explizit sexuelle darstellungen dieser ausstellung ihre gefühle verletzen könnten. hahaha, ist das nicht wunderbar?? und das mehr als 100 jahre nach seinem tod. er hat wirklich nichts an aktualität verloren. ich liebe seinen zeichenstil, diese feinheiten und ornamente. ohne dabei das große ganze außer acht zu lassen. wirklich phantastisch. danke fürs heraufladen.

hast du eigentlich auch schon eine singer sargent galerie?

Egine, again you bring back memories of my youth! I had a nice reproduction reprint of "Venus Under the Hill", Olympian press, way back in my dissolute youth, in the late 60's and early 70's, with these illustrations. There is a vivid description of Venus in the text with a unicorn, that sticks in my mind to this day. Aubrey Beardsley I have always liked (as did some of my ladies at the time).
It is nice to see his drawings reproduced here.
